Some say all the best ideas start in the pub and so it was with the Kniveton Cider Company....
One warm summer evening in 2013, following another defeat in the local skittles league the conversation at the Red Lion in Kniveton slowly turned to the number of local apples that were left to rot on the ground every autumn - all that potential cider going to waste!
By coincidence, just a few days later, one of that group made a true 'barn find' - an unused apple press collecting dust in farm outbuilding in deepest Lincolnshire. A cash offer was made and accepted.
Upon returning to Derbyshire the story was related and, before the night was over, shares of that press were sold on the promise of copious amounts of 'the good stuff' the following year.
And so The Kniveton Cider Company was formed.....
Never Mind The Hillocks was the result – a full bodied, dry 'Eastern Counties' style cider, sharp at first with an abundance of apple after taste. The cider was well received at a number of pubs, cider festivals and the Ashbourne and Nottingham CAMRA Beer and Cider festivals.
Now in our second season we are pleased to be able to offer Never Mind The Hillocks again but this year it is available in 500ml bottles.
